“Aston Martin” has fallen into the middle of the peloton, but is preparing a dash

“MK-sport” continues to sum up the results of the season-2021 in “Formula-1”: the seventh team of the championship “Aston Martin” is next in line. The British team, which fought for the third place in the Constructors’ Cup in 2020, did not cope with the adaptation of the car to the new rules last season and fell to the bottom. We understand the reasons for the regression in the past of a successful team.

In the offseason, the team was renamed from Racing Point to Aston Martin. This brings the fifth car manufacturer to the grid. The composition of the pilots has also changed. Sebastian Vettel , quarreled with “Ferrari”, moved to “Aston”. To make room for the German, boss Lawrence Stroll kicked out Cheko Perez , who did a lot for this team. However, it is unlikely that the Mexican was upset, having found a place in the “Red Bull”.

By 2021, the regulations were again adjusted by cutting the bottom and reducing the downforce. Thus, the bosses of the FIA decided to reduce the advantage of “Mercedes” over the rest. As you know, “Aston Martin” has long been linked by close partnership with the German team. And so close that sometimes their car almost completely copies last year’s car of the “silver arrows”.

So it was this time. But, if “Mercedes” as a whole coped with the new regulations, then in “Aston” they could not adjust to the new rules. As a result, the British ceased to consistently fight for high places. True, one cannot say that the year has passed in vain.

“Aston Martin” also had bright races. For example, in Baku, Vettel deservedly took second place at the finish line of the race. Hungary also came in second, but Seb was later disqualified because there was less than a liter of fuel left in the tank of his car, which is a violation of the regulations.

Co -pilot Lance Stroll didn’t make it to the podium in 2021, but he was more likely to hit the points than his partner. The best result of the Canadian was the sixth place.

Aston Martin is actively investing in the new team base, inviting new specialists, including from the top teams, ie trying to lay the foundation for future victories, which is the goal of the very successful businessman Stroll.

The composition of the pilots has also been preserved. Vettel probably settled down in the new team, and his colossal experience will help lead the team forward in the future.

All those engineers who, back in the days of “Racing Point”, under conditions of a limited budget, were building the third or fourth fastest car, are in place. So, we can expect significant progress from Aston Martin next season. The team will be able to return to the fight for the podiums.
