Seven possible opponents of the Russian national team in the 2022 World Cup play-offs have become known

A mass brawl involving migrants took place in Kupchino, St. Petersburg. On the evening of November 14, near the “famous” vegetable warehouse in St. Petersburg on Sofiyskaya Street, in a canteen, a native of Uzbekistan quarreled with a native of Tajikistan who had Russian citizenship. The squabble turned into a large-scale carnage.

As a result, twenty-two people were taken to the police, eight of them were detained. These are people from Uzbekistan who do not have a temporary registration or have avoided deportation. The men were detained, they face fines of up to seven thousand rubles and deportation without the right to enter Russia. The Russian was also sent to an isolation ward for fifteen days, he was charged with beatings, an administrative case was initiated.

Residents of Kupchino (the area in the south of the city where the vegetable warehouse is located) have long been accustomed to such incidents and are only ironic. “Open the 12-A police department at this vegetable warehouse. In order not to go there every other day, ”says local resident Natalia. Some merchants, on the contrary, say that there have been no round-ups at the vegetable warehouse for a long time.

The vegetable warehouse on Sofiyskaya is already a “legendary” place. On the one hand, many townspeople come here for vegetables and fruits at wholesale prices; you can even find delivery from the Sofia base on the network. On the other hand, the place does not have the most friendly image. In 2016, a story thundered throughout the city, as if two hundred people had fought on Sofiyskaya – however, then it turned out that there were much fewer participants in the massacre. In August 2021, the police also went to a “mass brawl”, but only two immigrants from Uzbekistan fought on the spot, everyone else around tried to separate them.

In August, there was a large-scale raid at a vegetable warehouse – then the police found there more than a hundred workers who violated migration laws. It happens on Sofiyskaya and stabbing: in the summer of 2021, an employee in serious condition with wounds to the chest and abdomen was brought from a vegetable warehouse to the Research Institute of Emergency Aid. However, he said that he accidentally fell on wooden pallets and the wounds appeared that way.

The reasons and circumstances of the current conflict in the cafeteria on Sofiyskaya are being investigated by the police.
