Russian biathlete Anton Babikov won the silver medal in the 20 km individual race with four firing lines at the European Championships, which started in Arber, Germany.

Gold was won by the Norwegian Sverre Dalen Aspens, who showed perfect shooting. The Russian also hit 20 targets out of 20, but lost 11.6 seconds to the winner. Bronze – the German Matthias Dorfer. He was also flawless on the shooting range.

Earlier, Babikov won the individual race in the seventh round of the World Cup in Antholz, Italy.

Babikov did not get into the main team of Russia for the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, but is listed as a substitute. The Olympics in the capital of China will be held from 4 to 20 February.

The European Championship in Germany will last until January 30. On Wednesday, January 26, an individual race for women is also scheduled. Its beginning is 16:00 Moscow time.
