“There will be no competition here”: Beterbiev prepares to knock out Brown

Russian boxer Artur Beterbiev will defend WBC and IBF light heavyweight belts against American Marcus Brown. MK-Sport talks about the fight, which will take place on December 17 in Montreal.

Arthur Beterbiev opened as the clear favorite against Marcus Brown . Even a cursory glance at the careers of boxers confirms this status: Arthur has a brilliant amateur past behind him, as well as incredible statistics in professionals – the Russian boxer ended all fights with early victories. The American did not distinguish himself in any way in the amateurs, and in the pros he already has a defeat by Jean Pascal.

The Russian made only one title defense after defeating Alexander Gvozdik in a unification match. The meeting with Adam Dines turned out to be difficult: Beterbiev was affected by a long break in his career. He is unusually passive, but by the tenth round, the general tonnage of blows and fatigue broke the resistance of the German.

By the way, Dines himself is confident in Beterbiev’s early victory in the upcoming fight: “Arthur fought with me, so he’s already adapted to the left-handed Brown. Markus has a good jab, but I can’t imagine how he will cope with Beterbiev’s pressure. Therefore, I bet on Arthur to win in the sixth or seventh round. He is ready for whatever the rival has to offer. “

The Ukrainian Gvozdyk, who lives in the USA, shares this position: “I can say right away that there will be no competition,” Alexander assessed the upcoming fight with these words, adding that he supports Dines’s opinion.

Beterbiev’s former rivals understand Brown’s main problem. He simply has nothing to cover the trump cards of the Russian boxer. The American has neither knockout power, nor a reference defense. Moreover, he has so many holes in his defense that even 37-year-old Pascal entered close range like a knife in butter.

Throughout his career, Brown’s job has been to keep an opponent on the jab. Heavenly manna for him turned out to be opponents working in a counterattacking manner, but under pressure, Marcus looks much worse. This was confirmed not only by the fight with Pascal, but also by the fight with Radivoye Kaladzic , in which Brown won a very controversial victory. For comparison, Kaladzic was knocked out by Beterbiev in the fifth round.

“Beterbiev should win. Brown is not an easy fighter. Much will depend on the shape of Arthur. Nevertheless, he is in the leading positions in this confrontation, “- said Dmitry Bivol, WBA light heavyweight champion .

Bivol drew attention to a perfectly fair point. Brown’s chances in the upcoming fight entirely depend on Beterbiev’s form. It would be much easier for the American if Arthur approached the meeting with the recently transferred coronavirus. Then one could count on the fatigue of the Russian after the equator or the lack of power in strikes.

Unfortunately for Markus, Beterbiev was ill last year, so now he will build up the pressure and invest in strikes more than in the fight with Dines. The American will have an incredibly difficult task: to defend himself against lateral and uppercuts throughout the fight. Moreover, Brown loves to work with his hands down. With the same success, you can run a fox into a chicken coop and wait for the victory of the chickens.

By and large, Beterbiev will have another title defense with a strong, but very convenient opponent for him. In the opening rounds, Brown will try to keep his distance. He is even capable of picking up a couple of rounds, but one way or another, Arthur’s striking power will definitely affect, and after the sixth round he will work for an early victory.
