LONDON: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will visit Ukraine on Tuesday to meet with President Vladimir Zelensky amid rising tensions on the Ukraine-Russia border. According to an official statement, .8 118 million in financial aid has been announced for Ukraine, including the UK’s Good Governance Fund. The aid will help reduce Ukraine’s dependence on Russian energy supplies.
“Every citizen of Ukraine has the right to choose his own government. The United Kingdom, as a friend and democratic ally, will continue to defend Ukraine’s sovereignty against anyone who seeks to destroy it,” Johnson said.
“We urge Russia to withdraw, to find a diplomatic solution, and to engage in dialogue to avoid bloodshed,” he said. It is noteworthy that there are currently more than 100,000 Russian troops on the Ukraine-Russia border. Russia has so far denied any involvement in the plot.
