New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut today. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the sports university will be constructed at a cost of Rs 700 crore in Slava and Kelli villages of Sardhana city of Meerut.
According to the PMO statement, “Prime Minister Modi is constantly working towards promoting sports traditions in the country and making sports resources world class. The step of setting up a sports university in Meerut is being taken under his vision. ”Sardhana has been decorated with lamps ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
Major Dhyan Chand Sports University Major Dhyan Chand Sports University is being constructed at a cost of Rs.700 crore and will be equipped with modern facilities, in which 1080 players can be trained simultaneously.
For outdoor games like athletics, seating for 25 to 30 thousand people will be arranged. A hall with a capacity of 5,000 will be built for sports like wrestling, kho kho and kabaddi.
The university will have an artificial hockey and football field. There will also be basketball, volleyball, handball and lawn tennis courts. There will also be a shooting range for shooting and archery and facilities such as a synthetic running stadium and swimming pool.
