Egypt expels UAE ambassador for smuggling

Egypt’s ambassador to Qatar says the Egyptian government has expelled UAE ambassador Hamad Saeed al-Shamsi from Cairo.

Egypptian Ambassador to Qatar Kamal-ud-Din al-Sharbini said that the Egypptian government had decided to expel Hamad Saeed al-Shamsi, the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, after it was proved that he was involved in the smuggling of Egyptian archeology along with some others. ۔According to the Egyppttian ambassador, former Egyptian parliamentarians Hassan Ratib and Aladdin Hasnain admitted during the investigation that the UAE ambassador was also involved in the smuggling of archeology from Egypt.The Cairo Prosecutor General has recently named Hassan Ratib and Aladdin Hasnain, among others, in a case known as archeology.Relations between the UAE and Egyppt have been strained in recent months.Abu Dhabi has cut off financial aid to Cairo and has acted only on its own interests in some issues related to the region.According to Arab sources, relations between the two countries are in crisis. Abu Dhabi has also accused Cairo of having prior reports of attacks on the UAE embassies in Ethiopia and Sudan, but has not told Abu Dhabi.
