The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday extended the ban on commercial international flights scheduled for January 31, 2022 in view of the threat posed by the Omicron variant.

The DGCA said the ban would not apply to cargo flights and flights approved by the DGCA. International flights may be allowed. “

The Ministry of Civil Aviation had announced the resumption of regular international flights from November 26 to December 15, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised the ministry to reconsider its decision in view of the spread of Omicron. The DGCA had banned commercial international flights scheduled for March 23, 2020, last year in view of the epidemic.
