Figure skater Yevgeny Semenenko replaced Mikhail Kolyada in the Russian team’s bid for the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. This became known from the official report of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR). The reason is a positive test for coronavirus in Kolyada:
“A few days ago, Mikhail Kolyada felt unwell. All this time, the skater did not train and did not skate with his group. Before flying to the training camp in Krasnoyarsk, Mikhail Kolyada underwent a PCR test, the result of which was positive,” the press service of the FFKKR said. .
Recall that in December, Mikhail Kolyada became the silver medalist of the Russian Championship and received the right to participate in the European Figure Skating Championship in Tallinn. However, he also did not go to this tournament – then an injury was named as the official reason for his replacement in the national team.
Instead of Mikhail Kolyada, Evgeny Semenenko was included in the main team, who took fourth place at the Russian Championship, and fifth at the European Championship.
Thus, the same athletes who participated in the European Championship will perform in the men’s singles tournament at the Beijing Olympics – Mark Kondratyuk , Andrey Mozalev , and Evgeny Semenenko . Petr Gumennik remained a substitute in the national team .
The Winter Olympic Games will be held in Beijing from 4 to 20 February.
