In the Moscow region, law enforcement officers detained the former sports director of the bankrupt football club “Tambov” Pavel Khudyakov. He was taken to the investigating authorities to carry out the appropriate investigative actions, reports Sport Express.
The former leaders of Tambov are suspected of embezzling regional subsidies that have been allocated to finance the club for several years. The football team received about a billion rubles annually. This money was appropriated by the leaders of “Tambov” through various schemes.
Earlier in October, the court approved the arrest of Tambov’s general director Olga Konovalova. She was detained on September 30 on suspicion of three counts of large-scale fraud. Konovalova is accused of a scam with the financing of the club. The Leninsky District Court remanded her in custody for a period of two months, until November 29. The sanction of the article on large-scale fraud provides for up to 10 years in prison.
Tambov played in the Russian Premier League (RPL) in the 2019/20 season (14th place) and the 2020/21 season (16th place). After leaving the elite of Russian football, the club was declared bankrupt.
