Buenos Aires: In Chile, left-wing Congressman Gabriel Burke has won the presidential election by defeating right-wing politician Josh Antonio Cast. I just called Gabriel and congratulated him on his great victory. Today, he is the President-elect of Chile and deserves all our respect and constructive cooperation. Chile always comes first. Many Latin American leaders, including the presidents of Argentina, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia, congratulated Gabriel on his victory on Twitter. Chile’s current president, Sebastian Paneer, has also congratulated him.

Mr Panera was constitutionally barred from running for re-election. Mr Panera tweeted: “Congratulations to Mr Gabriel Burke on his victory and wish him every success in his government.”

In the first round of the presidential election in November, Mr. Gabriel received about 26 percent of the vote, and Mr. Cast received about 28 percent. Voting for the second tour was scheduled for December 19, as both leaders failed to secure a majority. The new term of the President will begin on March 11, 2022.
