The Iraqi authorities are planning to start an operation to evacuate their citizens from the Belarusian-Polish border, where there are currently several thousand immigrants from the Middle East. This is reported by the Middle East media with reference to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
The spokesman for the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmad al-Sahhaf, said that 571 Iraqi citizens were found in temporary camps on the territory of Belarus, but their exact number is still being specified.
At the same time, the evacuation of Iraqis from the territory of Belarus may begin as early as Thursday, October 18.
Today, the Belarusian national carrier “BelaAvia” announced that it would not put citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen and Syria on Dubai-Minsk flights . The corresponding decision was made by the authorities of the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier, similar actions were taken in relation to flights from Turkey to Belarus, which also do not accept citizens of Iraq, Syria and Yemen.
The migration crisis on the Belarusian-Polish border began a week ago after a group of several thousand migrants tried to break into Poland. The ultimate goal of most foreigners is Germany.
The Polish and Lithuanian authorities responded by stepping up border security and imposing a state of emergency in the border areas.
In turn, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said today that the migrants who have accumulated at the border do not want to return to their countries. At the same time, the head of the republic proposed to take people to Munich by Belavia planes.
