Srinagar: Five militants, including a Jaish commander, were killed in overnight clashes in Pulwama and Chirar Sharif. Police sources told UNI Urdu that the security personnel received information that the militants were hiding in Naira village of southern district Pulwama and Charar Sharif area of central district Budgam. Took them under siege and launched an operation to find them.
He said that after finding all the escape routes blocked, the militants started firing indiscriminately on the security personnel, so the security personnel also took up position and started retaliation and thus clashes broke out between the two sides. According to police sources, five militants, including a Jaish commander, were killed in overnight clashes in Naira Pulwama and Chirar Sharif.
According to him, the bodies of the slain militants were recovered from the spot and arms, ammunition and objectionable materials were recovered from their possession. Meanwhile, IG Kashmir Vijay Kumar while giving details said that 5 militants affiliated to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish have been killed in clashes with security forces during the last 12 hours.
He said that Jaish’s most wanted commander Zahid Wani and Pakistani fighters were killed in Naira Pulwama. According to him, the death of Jaish commander Zahid Wani is a great achievement for the security forces as he was wanted by law enforcement agencies in several cases. According to IG Kashmir, the Pakistani fighter has been identified as Kafil alias Chhoto.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Range said that a Pakistani militant named Kafeel had been active in Pulwama and Shopian districts since the year 2020. He said that the identification of three more militants killed in these two clashes and their organizational affiliation. The investigation has begun.
