Adamyan : The rating of the International Judo Federation named the best: the medalist of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the judoka who defeated the legendary Frenchman Teddy Riner, the vice world champion Tamerlan Bashaev took first place in his category, as did Arman Adamyan in his weight.
At the end of the year, two representatives of the Russian national team – Tamerlan Bashaev (over 100 kg) and Arman Adamyan (up to 100 kg) took first places in their weight categories. In the overall ranking, Tamerlane takes the second position (6250 points), and Arman (5420 points) – the sixth position. The leader was Tato Grigalashvili from Georgia (up to 81 kg).
Heavyweight Tamerlan Bashaev in the past year only at one tournament (January Masters in Doha) could not be among the prize-winners. But even there Bashaev reached the final block, losing in the fight for third place. He won silver at the Grand Slam in Tel Aviv and then won two consecutive World Tour rounds in Antalya and Kazan. In June, Bashaev became the vice-champion of the world, and in July – the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games.
“I am glad that I managed to successfully compete in so many tournaments, which resulted in the first place in the rating. Next year I will try to keep the lead, ”says Tamerlane, the judoist’s words are reported by the press service of the Russian Judo Federation.
Arman Adamyan started the season with a bronze medal at the Masters, after which he became the third in Antalya and the second in Kazan. In the second half of the year, Armand won three stages of the World Tour: the Grand Prix in Zagreb and the Grand Slam in Paris and Abu Dhabi. Adamyan recorded two more victories in team competitions, becoming the champion of Russia and the winner of the European Judo Union Champions League with the Yavara Neva club.
“The first place in the rating is a great achievement in itself, which raises the status of an athlete. This is the motivation for further work, ”Arman admitted.
World champion 2021 Yago Abuladze (up to 60 kg) finished the year on the second line of the rating, like Madina Taymazova (up to 70 kg), heavyweight Inal Tasoev – on the third.
At the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Russian judokas won three bronze medals. At the 2012 London Olympics – three gold medals, one silver and one bronze. From Rio de Janeiro, the team brought back two gold and one bronze medals.
It is possible that Russia will see the World Judo Championship. FDR President Vasily Anisimov has already said that the organization is interested in organizing and holding the World Cup in 2024. Kazan came up with a specific initiative to host the World Championship. The region already has experience in holding large tournaments: in the spring of the outgoing year, the Grand Slam tournament took place, and negotiations are underway to hold it in the next two years.
