SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have claimed to have defused an IED weighing five kilograms after it was recovered and averted a major tragedy. Acting on a verified report, a joint team of Pulwama Police, Army 50 RR and CRPF 183 Battalion launched a search operation on Neva-Srinagar Road in Wanpura area of Pulwama, police sources said.
A roadside IED weighing about five kilograms was recovered during the operation, police sources said. Police sources said that as soon as the IED was recovered, a bomb disposal team was called to the spot and defused the explosives without causing any damage. Police have registered a case in this regard and some suspects have been detained for questioning, he said.
