Russian national team : The men’s relay took place in Hochfilzen at the third stage of the World Cup. Russia was expected to repeat (or even improve) the results of the women’s team – on the eve of the Russians became the second. It was not possible to repeat, but the medal is still ours. MK-Sport has summed up the results of the men’s relay.
Vasily Tomshin , who was praised so much and not without a grain of justice after the pursuit race (after all, it is expensive to play 37 positions and shoot to zero) got nervous in the relay. And if on the prone the 24-year-old biathlete coped well, leaving the shooting range first, then problems arose at the stand – Russia went into a circle and lost more than 40 seconds to the leaders after passing the baton. It became alarming, because after Tomshin, the newcomer of the national team Daniil Serokhvostov went into the race , who does not differ in accurate shooting, in contrast to good running on the track.
“From my first impressions, I think I did everything right. Apparently, the days of acclimatization jump a little, and somehow the state is quite floating. Lying down in terms of stability is easier to work because there is a belt. The standing position is more sensitive to the condition of the muscles. And today, already in the race, I felt that there was more tremor , ”Tomshin said after the race.
Serokhvostov followed Tomshin’s path exactly, but on the stand it turned out much more successful – two misses, but without penalties. Thanks to Daniil, the Russian national team still left hopes of fighting for medals, especially since the leaders of the race in the second stage fired too long. The lag from the first place among the Russians after the transfer of the relay to the Serokhvostovs was just over 40 seconds. It’s not so scary when Alexander Loginov and Eduard Latypov run farther for you .
“Today was the final day of acclimatization and it was easier to run. I’ll add the second circle. They shouted to me: go at your own pace. But I realized that my pace would be much quieter, and it would be impossible to fight on the last loop. I decided to add and almost got over the shooting. I saw a Ukrainian and decided that I had to catch up with him. I caught up with him and finished, “ Serokhvostov commented on the race.
And Loginov coped with the role of leader of the Russian national team: on the prone, the Russians succeeded today, and Alexander was no exception. I had to tinker with standing shooting, but the opponents were no better – Russia was in fourth place before passing the relay, almost a minute behind. Eduard Latypov was entrusted with turning the course of the race.
Latypov interrupted the streak without misses on the prone of the Russian national team, using one additional patron, but after the first shooting burst into the fight for a medal. Norway ran far ahead, so the whole intrigue was in the distribution of silver and bronze: Edward’s rivals were strong Kenten Fillon-Maillet from France and Philip Navrat from Germany.
During the standing shooting, it became clear that Russia and Germany would compete for bronze medals. And Latypov trembled, not covering the last shot, at this time the German had already fled, and Eduard, having closed the target, rushed in pursuit. The dangerous Sebastian Samuelsson was also behind him .
But Latypov already saw Navrat’s back, overtook him, and outstripped him on the rise in a brilliant style. Russia again took third place in the relay at the World Cup, and Norway became the winner for the second time, the French – the second.
