13,000 companies registered in Dec : New Delhi: In December last year, 13311 companies were registered under the Companies Act, bringing the total number of active companies in the country to 1444572. According to the government, this is proof that the economy is back on track despite the corona.
According to the monthly bulletin issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, a total of 13311 companies were registered under the Companies Act 2013 during December 2021 with an authorized capital of Rs. 3164.19 crore. Out of the total companies registered in different categories, 811 are one-person companies (OPCs).
During December, Maharashtra topped the list of new company registrations, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. According to the bulletin, Business Services topped the list with 3,508 companies registered in the group, according to the new registration economic activity. Out of the total newly registered companies, the joint authorized capital of 13224 companies stood at Rs. 3162.43 crore.
Vivek Jalan of Tax Connect Advisory Services LLP said: Many companies that used to export directly to India are now opening offices in the country and setting up local units due to new procurement rules. Under the new rules, public sector entities and government departments are required to obtain supplies only from companies that do not have less than 20% local goods in their goods and services.
According to the ministry’s bulletin, a total of 22,76,448 companies were registered in the country under the Companies Act till December 31, 2021. Of these, 7,87,953 companies were closed while 7,014 companies were in the process of liquidation. Similarly, 34,554 companies are in the process of being de-registered and 2,355 companies have become ‘inactive’ under Section 455 of the Companies Act. There are 14,44,572 active companies, including 261,642 companies, which have been added in the last 18 months.
