Melbourne: Spain’s Rafael Nadal made a comeback after losing two sets to beat Russia’s Daniel Medvedev 2-6, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4 7-5 in a five-set marathon on Sunday. Nadal won the record 21st Grand Slam title by defeating Medvedev in a match that lasted five hours and 24 minutes, with Nadal trailing Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and Switzerland’s Roger Federer. Left with 20 Grand Slam titles.

This is Nadal’s second Australian Open title. He won the title after a gap of 13 years. He had previously won the title for the first time in 2009 after losing in the Melbourne Final in 2012, 2014, 2017 and 2019. Spain’s Nadal now holds the record of 21-8 in the Grand Slam final.

This is Nadal’s fourth consecutive victory in a Grand Slam final since Djokovic lost the Melbourne final in 2019. On the other hand, this is Medvedev’s second consecutive defeat in the final of the Australian Open. Djokovic defeated him in the final in February last year. His record in the Grand Slam final is now 1-3.
