State Duma Deputy Sergei Lisovsky appealed to the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov with a request to increase state support for the production of tinplate in Russia, RBC writes on August 27, citing a document. The parliamentarian cited as an example the difficult situation that may arise with a shortage of lids for baby food.
According to Lisovsky, until 2022, for the production of baby food in banks in Russia, lids produced abroad, in particular by Silgan and ThyssenKrupp, were used. However, the supply of these products was banned after the introduction of the fifth package of anti-Russian sanctions by the European Union.
In a comment to the publication, the deputy confirmed that the letter had been sent to the minister and explained that the so-called tinplate, which is used to pack many food products, including children’s food, is not produced in Russia. And if an alternative is not found, the enterprises will be forced to stop, the deputy believes.
In particular, the parliamentarian cited as an example the Russian manufacturer of tin lids LLC “Plant of packaging products TOKK in Ramenskoye”, which buys raw materials in Serbia and Turkey. However, the capabilities of Russian manufacturers, according to Lisovsky, will not cover the needs of customers.
In an appeal to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, he asked both to strengthen state support for the industry and to find suppliers in states that are not on the list of “unfriendly” Russia.
