According to US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, the Russian authorities should not “look for conflicts”, but focus on the fight against the coronavirus.
Speaking at a briefing in Washington, Nuland said the Kremlin should explain to Russian citizens why it is looking for a potentially bloody conflict with serious consequences. She recommended that the Russian authorities “focus on public health and the remarkable challenges for Russia in building better conditions than they were.”
“No one needs a conflict, least of all – Russia. Ukraine is not an aggressor in the current situation,” the diplomat added, stressing that Russians should have “other reasons for concern instead of the situation around Ukraine.”
