Five new cases of the Omicron variant of the corona virus were reported in the country on Sunday, bringing the number of patients infected with the variant to 38. One such case was reported in Karnataka, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala yesterday.

Health department sources said that a 20-year-old man who had come from Italy to visit his relatives in Chandigarh on November 22, tested positive for code 19 on December 1, after which his sample was sent to Delhi. Sent to the National Center for Disease Control for genome sequencing. He was sent to the institutional quarantine of Mini Majra Seoul Hospital. The young man was tested again today and tested positive. Meanwhile, sources at Mani Majra Seoul Hospital confirmed that the young man, who was a patient of Code-19, had been admitted but declined to confirm the Omicron type. Seven members of the young man’s family have been tested for code 19, which turned out to be negative.

Meanwhile, the corporation commissioner of Nagpur told the media that a 40-year-old man had been found there in the Omicron variant of Corona.

Karnataka Health Minister Sudhakar said on Sunday that a 34-year-old man returning from South Africa had tested positive. He has been isolated and is being treated at a government hospital. Twenty people who came in contact with the victim have been traced and their samples have been sent for testing.

The first case of Omicron variant was reported in Vijayanagaram, Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. The director of the public health department said in a statement here. He said the 34-year-old foreigner, who arrived at Mumbai airport from Ireland, underwent Corona RTPCR test at the airport and his report was negative, after which he was allowed to travel. He came from Visakhapatnam on November 27. His report in RTPCR test in Vijayanagaram has been positive. He said that the swab sample of the victim was sent to CCMB Hyderabad for genome sequencing and his report has been positive. This is the first case of Omicron in Andhra Pradesh.

The first case of the new version of Code-19 was registered in Kerala when a new variant of a passenger returning from the UK on Sunday was found to be affected by Omicron.

State Health Minister Veena George confirmed the first case of Omicron in the state while talking to reporters. He said all passengers aboard the plane, which arrived here via Abu Dhabi on December 6, had been asked to take extreme precautions. Meanwhile, two relatives of the Kerala man were also found to be infected with code-19. Their samples have also been sent for genome sequencing.
