Users of instant messengers and social networks, as well as bloggers who actively use emoticons (emoji) in personal and public correspondence, have difficulty expressing their emotions, which poses a potential threat to their health. This point of view was expressed by the psychotherapist Nadezhda Panova.
The specialist noted that the abundant use of emoticons in the text is now common. Many people take this with humor, but for others, this style of correspondence is annoying.about:blank
According to Panova, people hang around their posts and messages with numerous emoticons, believing that everyone understands their meaning. Thus, they save time explaining their feelings and emotions.
At the same time, many of them have problems expressing their feelings in words, and compensate for this problem with emoticons, as well as punctuation marks: for example, numerous question and exclamation marks.
“This is much worse than simply unwillingness to explain or lack of time for explanations. The ability to be aware of and express one’s feelings is an essential skill for maintaining mental health, ”Panova said in an interview with RIAMO .
The doctor added that emotions that have not found a way out will accumulate and risk becoming a burden that will put pressure on the psyche. This condition can result in the development of somatic diseases.
At the same time, you shouldn’t give up using emoticons and emojis either.
“Used to the place and without fanaticism, they will help to conduct a dialogue in a friendly and relaxed manner,” the expert concluded.
