Bayraktar drone : On social networks, they are actively discussing the information released by the famous military TV reporter Alexander Rogatkin. He prepared a story about the development in Russia of means of dealing with alien drones. The photo posted on the Web captures the captured Turkish drone “Bayraktar” (Bayraktar TB2). These drones caused a lot of trouble for the Armenian troops in the second Karabakh war last year, and now they are threatened by the unrecognized republics of Donbass by Ukrainian troops.
It is not reported where exactly the Bayraktar was shot down. It is known that these drones were actively used by Turkish specialists in Libya, Syria, and also in Azerbaijan. Earlier it was reported that several drones were shot down in Libya with the help of the Russian Pantsir-S anti-aircraft systems, which are in service with the troops of Marshal Haftar.
It is unlikely that the Bayraktarrs were shot down in Karabakh. Otherwise, the Armenian side would not fail to inform about it.
On the other hand, it doesn’t matter where the Russian specialists got the trophy. It is much more important to get the drone in a more or less normal state so that you can study its electronic brains. Judging by the photo, the wreckage of Bayraktar is in satisfactory condition.
The study of the on-board equipment of the drone will help to better understand the principle of control, study the means of communication and navigation. This will help develop the most effective means for detecting and destroying drones. For example, using anti-aircraft missile systems or electronic warfare (EW) stations.
This is not an idle task, given that Ukraine has purchased a batch of Bayraktaars from Turkey and is building a plant to assemble them near Kiev. Now these drones are making provocative flights near Donbass and Crimea.
Some technologies hidden in Bayraktaar, for example, Canadian engines or American navigators, can be used to create Russian drones.
Incidentally, this is a well-known practice. For example, in the 70s, the captured newest American guided air-to-air missile helped the specialists of the State Research Institute of Aviation Systems to create the excellent Soviet K-8 missile.
Military journalist Rogatkin spoke about the development in Russia of technologies to combat other people’s drones. It turns out that not only anti-aircraft missiles and cannons or electronic warfare means are used for this, but also drones. Thus, a demonstration unmanned aerial battle was organized over the Crimea. In the course of it, the only Russian heavy drone “Orion” with a mass of one ton shot down a helicopter-type drone with a guided mini-missile at a distance of 4 kilometers. Some experts suggest that they used fundamentally new missiles specially designed for drones.
