The leader of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, recorded a video message to his fellow citizens, in which he urged Ukrainians not to panic about a possible Russian invasion and “think with your head, not with your heart.” An unscheduled address to the nation is posted on the President’s website. MK asked a profiler psychologist to comment on the speech of the leader of Ukraine.
There are many beautiful things in the appeal to compatriots, such as: “Ukraine is not afraid, because it defends its land. He will not give up, because this is our land, and we have nowhere to run.”
Zelensky said the country is ready for defense. He advised fellow citizens to believe in their own strength, in the army and in Ukraine. And most importantly – do not take bank deposits and do not buy all the buckwheat in stores.
The final two minutes of the speech were devoted to plans for the current year. Here, the president was especially eloquent: he remembered about barbecues with vegetable gardens in the summer, and about the upcoming autumn football championship in Qatar, and, of course, about his New Year’s address on the eve of 2023, when he confidently declares from the blue screens what good fellows everyone is. And especially him.
Involuntarily, a phrase from a Soviet cartoon about brownie Kuzya comes to mind: “And so we will gradually live until winter …”
In general, according to political scientists, he talked about everything and nothing. For an actor, speech, of course, is brilliant, but for a politician, not so much. It is not clear who Vladimir Alexandrovich actually reassured more – his people or officials who are clearly worried about the events taking place recently.
One of the officials, the outrageous Aleksey Arestovich, recently left the post of non-staff adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine. “On Monday, I arrived at work as usual, walked up to the building and realized that I no longer want to cross its threshold,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
As expected, Zelensky’s appeal could not but cause a response from fellow citizens. The web immediately appeared sharp comments.
“Communists, do not be afraid. I myself am afraid, but the victory is ours … Maybe .. ”- a user with the nickname Watson paraphrased the president’s words.
“How pathetic is the jester on the throne of the king, how stupid are the people who allowed it,” user Notzdr3v quoted Robert Burns as saying.
“Zelensky bluntly said that no invasion is expected and that all this is a lie of the West. So no one has ever accused the West of lying,” Serhio25 commented on this.
MK asked psychologist-profiler Yulia Afanasyeva to comment on the speech of the leader of Ukraine.
– Zelensky actor, and a professional actor. He is trained to fully control the body, facial expressions. And not just to own, but to authentically depict what he says, so that it does not disagree with words and with the body. Therefore, what he utters is quite consistent with his movements. He happily reports that everything is fine, everything is wonderful, we will “fry the barbecue and plant potatoes.” Without knowing about the real problems in Ukraine, you can really think that people live there just fine. At the end of soothing phrases, he gestures, thereby focusing attention on them. It absolutely corresponds to the words that are spoken.
In Zelensky’s words, of course, there are some contradictions, but they are purely logical. On the one hand, he speaks of a diplomatic settlement of the conflict, on the other: “We are ready. We will defend ourselves.” There are clearly signs of aggression. A lot of emphasis is placed on partners, it is with this support that he reassures the people. Saying the words “this is our land”, the President of Ukraine bounces, which is noticeable in the video. He obviously tensed up, it is obvious that this topic worries him.
– Can you call his appeal an “explicit game”?
– Explicit game implies a 100% lie. This is not an obvious game, this is professional work. You can question some statements, but they are not here. Air is nothing. He reassures with completely generalized phrases, and there is not a single sign of a lie in them, because they simply cannot be there.
There are no specifics, listings or statements as to why people shouldn’t panic. In terms of logic and professionalism, he talks about it perfectly. And his words cannot be doubted, because there is nothing in them that could be doubted. The person simply reassures: “Don’t worry, everything will be fine.” These are normal soothing phrases. They can be said in any situation, if only for the reason that you will not have to bear any responsibility for them.
