Russian President Vladimir Putin has outplayed Europe with gas. This opinion was expressed in an article for the British newspaper Daily Express by the columnist Anthony Ashkenazi.
The journalist believes that the leader of the Russian Federation managed to do this by agreeing to increase gas supplies to China.
Ashkenazi indicated that Putin, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, is already close to concluding a deal on the construction of a new pipeline. The Briton estimated the possible deliveries through it as equivalent to the volumes of fuel that were planned to be sent to the EU via Nord Stream 2.
The observer wrote that the agreement will double exports to China, that is, it will reach 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas. It will route eastward via the new major Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline.
Ashkenazi noted that in parallel with this, Europe is experiencing a serious energy crisis, the certification of Nord Stream 2 has been suspended.
