With age, more and more people begin to suffer from headaches. This can be due to constant stress, stress at work, unhealthy lifestyles, and more. But, according to the neurologist Alexander Atyashev, the main cause of headaches is migraine.

In an interview with the Tula News Service, the doctor said that about 80% of patients who seek medical help suffer from migraines. According to the specialist, migraine is a chronic disease that does not respond to treatment, but which can be controlled. Atyashev believes that migraine is the most common type of headache, accounting for about 70-80% of all pains. The second most common specialist named pain from tension.

According to the neurologist, in total, migraine has four main specific symptoms, but only two of them are enough for an accurate diagnosis. Atyashev notes that migraine pain is one-sided, so strong that a person may want to drop everything and lie down. Also, if nausea is observed and you want to close yourself from light and sounds, then this is definitely a migraine.

The specialist added that most often young women face migraines, since this ailment is associated with hormones and the menstrual cycle. At the same time, Atyashev assures that migraines themselves are not dangerous, they do not lead to strokes or heart attacks, but require mandatory monitoring. Such headaches, according to the neurologist, need to be eliminated in time with special drugs. In addition, if you often endure a migraine, then it will appear more often, so in no case should it be tolerated.

In conclusion, the specialist noted that migraine is treated in two ways – either by eliminating attacks, or by reducing their number. Earlier, doctors called frequent headaches in the back of the head a sign of “bad” cholesterol .
