WASHINGTON (Reuters) – At least 20 people were killed and more than 20 others, including 12 children, were injured when a speeding car crashed into them during a Wukisha Holiday parade in Wisconsin on Friday, police said. Local police and fire brigade officials confirmed the crash.
The incident took place on Sunday evening, Wukisha Police Chief Daniel Thompson said. An official also tried to stop the vehicle. One person has been arrested in the case. The exact number of dead is not yet known.
A fire department official said 11 adults and 12 children were taken to hospital, some of whom later died. A video of the parade shows a car passing through the crowd and crushing people along the way.
