The actions of the US Air Force created a threat to civil aviation, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. In her Telegram channel, she commented on the incident with a Russian passenger plane, which was flying from Tel Aviv to Moscow. At some point, the board urgently changed course in order to avoid rapprochement with the US reconnaissance aircraft in the Black Sea.
Zakharova noted that if a catastrophe was now averted in the airspace over the open waters of the Black Sea, this does not mean that the United States and NATO “can continue to risk the lives of people with impunity.”
As a result, the Russian diplomat stressed that the increased intensity of NATO aircraft flights near the borders of the Russian Federation could lead to dangerous incidents in relation to civil aircraft.
Zakharova added that the flights of military aircraft without radio communications are very dangerous. Now the Russian aviation authorities are initiating the sending of the protest through diplomatic channels.
In addition, Zakharova cited facts published by the Federal Air Transport Agency on the incident over the Black Sea. According to her, on the morning of December 3, a NATO CL600 reconnaissance aircraft flew over open sea waters near the area of responsibility of Russian air traffic services.
NATO’s plane crossed the air traffic service route. It was installed for civil aircraft. At the same time, the crew of the reconnaissance aircraft did not respond to requests from air traffic services. As a result, two civil aircraft had to quickly change directions and flight levels.
Earlier it was reported that the reconnaissance aircraft RC-135 and CL-600 ARTEMIS, which belong to the United States, had to be accompanied by Russian pilots. Su-27 and Su-30 fighters took to the air. As a result, the measures taken by Russian specialists ensured the safe operation of flights over the Black Sea.Earlier , Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt opposed NATO’s presence at the Russian border. According to her, the countries of the alliance should not tease the “Russian bear” with military exercises near the borders of Russia. For example, Norway is quite capable of itself, without the help of NATO allies, to defend the border with the Russian Federation. This issue, she said, she would like to discuss with the UK and the United States.
