The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, reacted to the threat of British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, who had previously hinted at the confiscation of the property of Russian oligarchs living in the kingdom.
“Most importantly, not a step back, Mrs Truss! We really hope for you. No momentary British financial interests can be more important than democracy and freedom!” — Zakharova wrote in her Telegram channel .
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added that if Truss succeeds in realizing her threats, she could well qualify for the Russian badge “For interaction”.
Zakharova noted that Russia has long provided London with a list of Russian corrupt officials who have taken refuge in it.
The other day Truss said that the UK is considering the issue of confiscation of the property of “Russian oligarchs” who live in the country, in the event of an escalation of the military conflict in the Donbass.
At the same time, she admitted that British business could also suffer in this case, but stressed that “democracy and freedom are more important than momentary financial interests.”
Moscow has repeatedly stated that accusations by the West and Ukraine that Russia is allegedly building up its troop grouping on the western borders are being used as a pretext for deploying NATO military equipment near Russian borders.
